Wakulla, FL - Stone Cowie looks small in stature, but he's got some big game on the links, especially Wildwood Golf Course.
Cowie says, "I've been the club champion here for the last three years. So, I mean everybody older than me kind of gets jealous and mad at me when I keep winning it. Everybody else kind of wants to win it, but the way I think about it is, they should be proud you all got a young golfer here that actually plays good and what not."
Peter Sands, Wildwood golf course's director of golf, says, "Stone is one of those golfers that he's just got a natural swing. He's one of those consistent golfers that he doesn't get in much trouble around the course. Keeps it in play and just right down the middle."
He might hit it down the middle, but he's finishing at the top of the scoreboard. At the recent Future Masters event in Dothan, Alabama, Stone finished eighth out of a field of 233.
Cowie says, "I mean I never thought I'd be playing all these big tournaments like the Optimist International or the Future Masters, and actually perform pretty good in most of them."
He'll be a senior at Wakulla High this year, and he hasn't decided what college he'd like to bring his game to.
Cowie adds, "It would be really cool if I got a scholarship because I don't want to pay for college, but..."
But in the meantime, he'll just keep draining putts dreaming of when he'll be able to putt for dough.
