Tallahassee police arrest suspect in fatal New Year’s Day stabbing

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Tallahassee Police Department says it has made an arrest in a fatal New Year’s Day stabbing on Lake Avenue.

According to TPD, officers were called to the 1500 block of Lake Avenue around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, 2021. When they arrived at the scene, officers found a man, 60-year-old Lawrence Williams, who died from stab wounds.

TPD says after a “swift and thorough investigation” by its Violent Crimes Unit, a person of interest was identified and arrested for murder. The department says the suspect knew the victim personally.
