Carrabelle mayor’s house target of drive-by shooting, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says
CARRABELLE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says there was a drive-by shooting at the Carrabelle mayor’s house Tuesday night.
Deputies posted a video of the suspect truck on Facebook Thursday afternoon.
A spokeswoman from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement confirmed to WCTV shots were fired at Mayor Brenda La Paz’s home. The FDLE also says it is providing investigative and forensic assistance to the Carrabelle Police Department.
Although some people were in the home at the time, no one was hurt in the shooting.
The sheriff’s office says it is offering a cash reward for information leading to an arrest. If you have information for FCSO, reach out to them at 850-670-8500.
La Paz was elected as mayor of Carrabelle in 2015 after serving as a city commissioner for four years. She ran uncontested in 2020 and was re-elected to the seat, according to the Florida League of Mayors.
She serves the community in other capacities as well; the Florida League of Mayors says she is a chairwoman of the Carrabelle CRA, a member of the Franklin County Tourist Development Council Board of Directors, the Apalachee Regional Planning Council Board of Directors and the Franklin County Community Traffic Safety Team.
