Woman arrested for stealing puppies in Jackson County
GREENWOOD, Fla. (WCTV) - The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says it arrested a 37-year-old woman for stealing three puppies from a home in Greenwood.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were called to a home in Greenwood about a theft at around 12:45 p.m. on Friday, March 26.
The responding deputy says they learned that the suspect, Nicole Marie Wood, had been living at a home nearby and took three puppies from the victim’s home.
“After speaking with witnesses, it was determined that Wood had kept one for herself and given the others away,” the press release says.
A JCSO deputy made contact with Wood at a home in Bascom, and she was seen holding one of the stolen puppies, according to the sheriff’s office.
The deputy also managed to make contact with the person Wood gave the other two puppies to. JCSO says it determined this person was not part of the theft.
All three puppies were recovered and reunited with the owner, JCSO says.
Wood was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail, where she awaits her first court appearance. She was charged with petit theft.
