Kentucky Colonel’s Mint Julep

  • 5 sprigs of fresh mint
  • 2 teaspoons simple syrup
  • Crushed ice
  • 2 ounces Kentucky bourbon
  • Homemade simple syrup
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 cup sugar


Place the leaves of four sprigs of mint with the simple syrup at the bottom of a julep glass then slightly bruise the mint with a muddler. Add the bourbon, stir, and top with crushed ice. Lightly slap the last mint sprig and garnish the julep. Enjoy!

Make simple syrup with the sugar and water by boiling the two together for three minutes. Allow to cool then refrigerate until ready to use.
