UF coaches Mullen, White, and Newbauer given contract extensions

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) -University of Florida football coach Dan Mullen, men’s basketball coach Mike White, and women’s basketball coach Cam Newbauer have all been granted contract extensions.

Mullen has new financial terms and the length of his contract has been extended to January of 2027, giving him six years remaining on his contract. Mullen has led the Gators to three consecutive New Year’s Six Bowl appearances and won the SEC Eastern Division in 2020.

“Dan has done a tremendous job in his three seasons at Florida, and we are fortunate to have someone with his obvious talents and head coaching experience leading our football program,” said Florida Athletic Director Scott Stricklin in a press release. “I look forward to working alongside him to support his vision for Gators football and our student-athletes for many years.”

White has received a two-year extension to his current contract through April of 2027, giving him six years remaining on his contract. There are no new financial terms to White’s contract. In six seasons on the job, White has led Florida to the last four NCAA tournaments and won a game in each of those tournaments.

“Though he’s still relatively young by coaching standards, Mike has already established himself as a successful head coach,” said Strciklin. “Because of his work ethic, intelligence and competitiveness his career has such a high ceiling, and it’s going to be fun watching what his Gator teams accomplish for years to come.”

Newbauer has received a three-year extension to his current contract through April of 2025 giving him four years remaining on his contract. There are no new financial terms to the contract. Newbauer is 46-71 in four seasons at Florida, with a high mark of 15-15 in 2019-20.

“Cam is building his program the right way and making steady progress,” said Stricklin. “It’s important that he have the time needed to continue that progress.”

In regards to the contracts of both Mullen and White, the bonuses that were suspended in 2020-21 due to the pandemic, return.
