TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Disturbing anti-Semitic graffiti was scrawled on an FSU student’s apartment door.

Rising Florida State seniors Madison Schatz and Julia Clemens tell WCTV three swastikas and the word “Nazi” were written on the door of their off-campus apartment late Tuesday night.

Someone wrote the hateful message using the chalk that was already decorating their door.

“It’s a little unsettling see as we’re both Jewish and it’s a little hard to believe that it wasn’t a targeted attack I would say,” said Schatz.

Schatz is the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors. She and her roommate are not taking the vandalism lightly.

The two live in an apartment complex near FSU’s campus and believe it could be someone who lives or was visiting nearby.

“Seeing as our door in our hallway is locked and it’s a private property, I think it could be someone we know, it could be a student at FSU,” said Schatz.

Schatz tells WCTV their apartment was the only target.

She says she did report it to the police and the university and hopes the suspect or suspects will be caught soon.

“It’s our home. This is our safe space and to come home and see something like that first thing….,” said Schatz while getting emotional.

TPD says they are aware of the incident and at this time they have no leads on the case.
