TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Tallahassee Community College men’s basketball program has announced the hiring of former Arkansas State assistant coach Rick Cabrera as the Eagles’ newest head coach.
TCC made the hiring official Thursday afternoon.
Cabrera takes over after former TCC head coach Zach Settembre left in April to take a job with Coastal Carolina.
A D1 assistant coach for 13 years, Cabrera spent three years with the Red Wolves (2019-2021) after spending time with Austin Peay (2017-19), Tennessee Tech (2017-17) and UT-Chattanooga (2008-12).
TCC is the second head coaching position for the former Tennessee Tech Golden Eagle: He helmed Lackawanna College from 2004-08, going 100-29 over his four seasons, including winning a pair of Coach of the Year awards and won two conference tournament championships in 2005 and 2006.
Cabrera takes over an Eagles program that has won back-to-back Panhandle Conference championships and have gone 46-9 over that time.
