TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Infinity Con is back in Tallahassee this weekend at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center after a hiatus due to the pandemic.

Organizers said they have a lot in store. WCTV took a behind-the-scenes look at the event Friday night.

The Lake City-based comic book convention started in 2014 as a small, one-day event for local enthusiasts, but it quickly grew to what is now a two-day event in a different part of the state.

Infinity Con owner David Heringer told WCTV that this event is kid and family-friendly and made for interests level of any kind.

“So if there’s something you’re into, it’s a good chance you’re going to find it here. And it could just be some memorabilia from the past, it could be anything pop culture. You just gonna find that kind of stuff here,” said Heringer.

The spread includes collectables, cosplay, movie-quality displays, and special effect make-up artists to make you feel like you’re starring in your own role.

20-year-old special effects expert Jeh Howell walked WCTV through one of his designs. Howell uses his 3D designs to give you whatever fantasy look you’d like.

“It will stick on there, and we will colorize it and add a little bit of blood or a lot of blood, whatever’s best and to make it look more like the fantasy cut,” Howell explained.

The event is also hosting a two day Smash Brothers competition with 540 competitors.

“Yes, absolutely,” said semi-pro e-sports gamer Damian Edwards. ”Two 12-hour days for sure, and that’s if we’re efficient and we have the great big space.”

Heringer says you’ll have endless possibilities to explore your interests. He added, “So, yeah, there is a lot of things that you won’t want to miss, and we like to say hear that the possibilities are infinite.

If you’re a comic book lover or you just love special effects, Infinity Con might be for you.

Doors open Saturday at 10 a.m. and the events runs through 6 p.m. Sunday, the event will take place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., and tickets can be purchased online by clicking here.
