TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Florida State was eliminated from postseason play in the Oxford Regional after a 7-4 loss to Southern Miss at Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi Sunday afternoon.

FSU finished the season 31-24, while the No. 2 regional seed Golden Eagles improved to 39-20 and advanced to face top-seeded Ole Miss in the Oxford Regional Championship.

The Seminoles led 1-0 early on and 4-1 after three innings but allowed two runs in the fifth, the tying run in the seventh and the eventual winning run as well as some insurance in the eighth inning. The Golden Eagles would tack on an additional run in the ninth for the final margin.

Robby Martin drove in two runs for the Seminoles, while Davis Hare and Logan Lacey each knocked in a run as well. Lacey hit his 10th homer of the season and his third in as many games. The Seminoles managed just one hit over the final 6.1 innings, which was a double by Matheu Nelson.

FSU starting pitcher Conor Grady threw 6.1 solid innings, allowing five hits, four earned runs with a walk and six strikeouts. Mike Martin Jr. sent him back out on the mound for the seventh inning after he had thrown only 85 pitches through six frames, but a game-tying solo homer by Will McGillis with one out ended his afternoon.

The two go-ahead runs were charged to Hunter Perdue, with just one of those two runs being earned. He took the loss, falling to 1-3 on the season. Perdue allowed a single to Reed Trimble to lead off the eighth inning and then walked Charlie Fischer.

Jack Anderson came in to relive Perdue and after a fielder’s choice that allowed Christopher Sargent to reach and give the Golden Eagles the corners, he allowed an RBI single through the right side to Reece Ewing. With two on, Danny Lynch then singled on a grounder that kicked off of Anderson and then advanced to second on a throwing error by the pitcher. That error allowed Sargent to score.

In the bottom of the ninth, FSU went down in order with its season ending on a swinging strikeout by Lacey.

Ryan Och earned the victory on the mound for Southern Miss. He pitched 4.2 innings of relief after replacing starting pitcher Drew Boyd (2.2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, BB, K). Och allowed one hit, walking two and striking out 11. He improved to 8-0 on the season. Hurston Waldrep earned his third save of the season, tossing the final 1.2 innings with a pair of strikeouts.
