Leon County Schools to drop mask mandate for summer, 2021/22 school year

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - The Leon County Schools system says masks will be optional for students, teachers, staff and visitors for the upcoming summer session and for the 2021-22 school year.

LCS Superintendent Rocky Hanna posted a video to Facebook on Friday.

“After conversations with the Leon County Health Department, we have made the decision to make masks optional for our employees and students for our summer programs and next fall,” Hanna says in the video. “Those who are eligible to get vaccinated, we’re encouraging you to get vaccinated but, vaccinated or not, masks will become optional beginning Monday, June 14.”
