TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Darius Johnson, the Rickards high school graduate the city of Tallahassee wrapped their arms around five years ago has just graduated college and is back home celebrating.

Johnson lost his grandmother right before his senior year of high school and suffered from homelessness and once word got out, Leon County Schools staff, teachers and leaders took him under their wing and helped him get to school.

Sunday those same people threw Johnson a graduation party and told him how proud they are of him, which is something that he says means more than words can explain.

“Yeah honestly it’s heart-warming and heart-melting to me because you know it’s sweet hearing them congratulate me and coming here to tell me how proud they are of me and it just makes me want to do more in my life and continue to make them happy,” shared Johnson.

Johnson says he has big plans ahead and wants to pay the kindness he’s received forward.
