TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Leon County School Board member Alva Striplin has resigned from her position on the Children’s Services Council.

Striplin says she resigned to avoid a conflict of interest since the group is looking to her husband’s law firm for legal counsel. Striplin made the announcement that she was stepping down from the council at a school board meeting on Tuesday, June 15.

Darryl Jones, who the group unanimously voted for, will fill her spot on the council. The CSC’s next meeting is on Tuesday.

Striplin is still a member of the county’s school board.

Striplin also said she has accepted a new job that she hopes to give more attention to. She will be the Director of Business Law Programs at Florida State University’s College of Law.
