Man wanted for kidnapping arrested in Wakulla Co.
WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - The Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office said it arrested one man who was wanted for kidnapping out of Michigan Wednesday evening.
Alexander Gusho was arrested and charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle.
On June 23, WCSO said it received a phone call from Center Line Michigan Police stating they “pinged” the cell phone of an individual missing out of their city who had possibly been kidnapped. Gusho was reported to have kidnapped an adult woman and was traveling through Wakulla in a stolen car.
CLMP said the victim had recently communicated with family members that she was afraid that Gusho was going to harm her. The agency remained in communication with WCSO deputies and provided several possible locations for the suspect.
While searching, a WCSO deputy observed a vehicle matching the description given by CPD traveling on Highway 98. Deputies conducted a traffic stop and arrested Gusho without incident. The victim was not found to be in Gusho’s car, but was located a short time later unharmed, WCSO said.
Gusho was arrested and transported to the Wakulla County Jail, where he is awaiting extradition back to Michigan as of Thursday evening.
Gusho may face additional charges as the investigation is ongoing, according to WCSO. The investigation has been turned over to the Center Line Police Department.
