Second Harvest kicks off summer food program

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Second Harvest is kicking off its summer food program this week, delivering free meals to children in neighborhoods across Tallahassee.

The meals will be provided for free to children 18 and under at 10 different locations Monday through Friday.

The Food on the Move program will visit 10 neighborhoods across the Capital City.

We were there as a van filled with bags of kid-friendly food arrived in Brittany Estates Friday afternoon.

“Come on out, spread the word, tell a friend, show up, you don’t have to live in the neighborhoods that we’re passing out to collect food,” said Brittany Morgan, program coordinator for Second Harvest. “So if you see our flyer and you have kids that are school age and want a lunch, come on out. It’s open to anybody and everybody as long as they’re a school age kid.”

Second Harvest is also teaming up with “Summer Break Spot” to provide free meals for children at 13 different locations in Leon, Madison and Gulf Counties.
