FHP: Accident in Mayo sends multiple people to the hospital
MAYO, Fla. (WCJB) - FHP is investigating a crash involving a bus and semitruck Friday morning.
The agency tells TV20 the crash happened on SR-51 near CR-354 around 6:45 a.m. Friday morning. A bus carrying migrant workers was t-boned by a semi truck that ran a stop sign.
There were 39 people on the bus. Twelve people were reported injured, including the semi-truck driver, and taken to UF Health Shands in Gainesville. Shands employees reported receiving an alert telling them to prepare to receive patients. Highway Patrol is reporting the patients were sent to Shands for broken bones and other injuries There are no deaths to report at this time.
