HAVANA, Fla. (WCTV) - Thursday evening the Gadsden County Jaguars introduced new Head Football Coach Victor Winters to the public after an online announcement Wednesday night. Winters, a former assistant to outgoing Jags head coach Corey Fuller has a decade worth of experience as an assistant.

The Tuscaloosa, AL native is a Navy veteran and worked under Fuller at both Gadsden and in Tallahassee with the Godby Cougars’ program. In his remarks Thursday, Winters stressed the importance of the Jaguars program being one that is supported by the community and strives to make better men of its players.

“Not only did I become the Head Coach at Gadsden County, I did it the way I wanted to,” said Winters of the opportunity. “I started from the bottom at the school, had to leave, come back and they still embraced me so this was always the school I wanted to be with. I want to coach these types of kids because this is the type of kid I was 25 years ago.”

On the field Winters says while the Jags will do some tweaking schematically on offense, Gadsden’s defensive principals will remain the same.
