THOMAVILLE, Ga. (WCTV) - Preparation for the 101st Rose show and festival can be seen all over downtown Thomasville, as local businesses gear up for the weekend.

It’s a special time of year known to bring upward of 30,000 people to the city of roses over the course of two days. With special deals and displays for rose fest, one downtown employee says she’s excited to see the economic boost from the events.

“I just started working here at His Daughter Boutique a couple of months ago so the anticipation is killing me,” said Morgan Caldwell, the marketing Manager.

Caldwell says the boutique usually sees an influx of traffic on the weekends, but with thousands of visitors expected to pass through the downtown area she shared the store has ramped up on staff.

“We usually have two sales associates working every weekend, but I know we have at least four working this weekend so if that says anything, we’re definitely expecting double the amount that we usually have,” she said.

Thomasville tourism and special events Manager Madison Eaton says the Rose festival is a great way to mark the spring season.

“Even though this is only two days it takes months of planning, weeks of preparation and it takes our entire city of Thomasville’s team to pull this event together,” she said.

She shared that even though visitors will get to enjoy the traditional rose show, and parade, there are a few new traditions to look forward to this year.

“We’re forming the rose bud and rose parade into one big parade on Friday night. We will have the rose fest market during the day on Saturday at the Ritz Amphitheater and we will also have the rose fest finale ending out the weekend with some fireworks at 9 o’clock on Saturday night.” Eaton

The festival officially kicks off on Friday April 22 and continues through Saturday April 23rd.
