Man arrested for possession of dozens of images of child porn in Wakulla County
A 55-year-old man was found with more than 100 images of child pornography, said the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.
WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - A 55-year-old man was found with more than 100 images of child pornography, said the Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office.
The discovery came after an August 19, 2020 traffic stop when Michael Flippo of Maine was pulled over for speeding in a school zone, according to a news release.
Flippo issued a Maine driver’s license that was found to be connected to five active warrants in Maine for child pornography. He was ticketed for the traffic violation and arrested for the warrants, according to WCSO. After searching his vehicle, a deputy allegedly located multiple devices including a cell phone, tablet, and five USB drives. The items were confiscated and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
The following day, detectives interviewed Flippo where he allegedly told deputies that he had left Maine to save money for an attorney after being summoned to court for the child pornography charges.
According to WCSO, Flippo admitted to downloading child pornography and told investigators that it would be found on the devices that were found inside the vehicle during the traffic stop.
In September of 2020, Flippo was extradited back to Maine and released on bail.
Detectives later obtained warrants to search the devices and Flippo’s internet history. The information was submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Digital Evidence Forensic Lab. According to WCSO, more than 100 images depicting child pornography were later found on Flippo’s devices.
In March of 2022, Flippo was officially charged with possession of child pornography. He was arrested in New Hampshire the following month by U.S. Marshals and is now waiting to be extradited back to Florida.
