Miami native Alyssa Camacho came to the Big Bend/South Georgia area in August 2015 as a student at Florida A&M University, where she later graduated with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism in the spring of 2019.
In October of 2021, she joined the WCTV Eyewitness News team as a news producer. Prior to her time at WCTV, Alyssa worked as a news and video producer for the Grio (previously known as The Black News Channel).
Since joining the Eyewitness News team, she has worked on several shows such as Eyewitness News at noon, 4 p.m., 6 p.m., 11 p.m. and more. She currently produces the 5 and 5:30 p.m. newscasts.
Alyssa has also mentored multiple producer interns at WCTV and assisted in the station's efforts to revamp its internship program. She plays an integral role in the day-to-day management of newsroom interns.
Alyssa is currently working to obtain her master's degree in communications from Syracuse University. Outside of work and school, she enjoys time at home with her family, watching true crime documentaries and mentoring young journalists.
