TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- WCTV and Werner Hyundai are teaming up to highlight local foster children and foster parents.

This is Roshaun's story.

"I guess it humbles you a lot," says Roshaun.

At 17 years old, Roshaun has been through more than your average teenager.

"It was just a lot of just disappointment,” recalls Roshaun. “I'm just trying to get past that."

Roshaun entered the foster care system at just three years old, but you’d never guess he’s seen life’s struggles. He says his motivation is football.

"It’s helped me because I could tunnel a lot of my emotions through sports," he says.

His goal after high school, become a football coach.

"Maybe go to a junior college for two years, play a little ball, then transfer to a big university and study to be a coach," says Roshaun.

Laquita is Roshaun’s adoption case manager.

"I hope for success for his future,” says Laquita. “He really loves football. He really wants to be a coach."

But big plays and a winning record aren’t why he wants to coach.

“Just work with kids and guide them,” says Roshaun. “I want to do what the coaches did for me."

The chance to touch a life, the same way his mentors have helped him.

"Your childhood, what you did in the past doesn't define you,” says Roshaun. “You always have a future."
