TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Heavy rainfall over the weekend shut down several roadways in the city of Tallahassee, and a popular walking path.
A city representative said several roads, including Fermanagh Drive in the Killearn area, Weaver Drive and parts of Creek Road were closed due to flooding. The walkways and roads surrounding Lake Ella, which the city said is a stormwater pond, were also underwater.
"Well, the plan was just to walk around," resident Stephon Simpkins said. "I like coming to Lake Ella at night. It's calm and peaceful, but, as you see, it's kind of flooded. So, kind of a change of plans."
Water levels are expected to recede in the coming days.
According to the city website, as of mid-afternoon Monday, the December rain levels were as follows:
City Hall: 6.39 in.
Hilaman Golf Course: 7.39 in.
Jake Gaither Golf Course: 6.75 in.
