VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- Young artists at Dewar Elementary School are taking on a unique challenge.

Their canvas is a dumpster.

The City of Valdosta calls it Dumpster Art, and will feature the artwork downtown.

More than 700 elementary kids have have helped out by giving the work their own special touch.

They're painting all week, and say it should be ready by this Friday.

"I think people will be proud of the painting that we've done, but I'm just scared that people aren't going to like it," says Cole Harbison, 2nd Grade at Dewar Elementary.

They say it's their version of Van Gogh's Starry Night, but of Valdosta.

Each side represents a part of South Georgia, such as Wild Adventures and Valdosta State.

The City says it will be put downtown for the public to enjoy by the end of September.
