CAIRO, Ga. (WCTV) -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says a suspect has been arrested for the murder of an 86-year-old Cairo man over the weekend.
On Sunday, the GBI was contacted by the Cairo Police Department to assist in a homicide investigation. Jimmy Lee Bryant, 86, was found shot to death in the front yard of his home on MLK Jr. Drive in Cairo.
Witnesses told police and agents at the scene that Bryant had been involved in a domestic dispute with 31-year-old Derrick Clark, of Donalsonville. Witnesses said the dispute began earlier in the afternoon and ended with the shooting.
Following an investigation, Clark was located in Whigham and arrested on charges of felony murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He remains in the Grady County Jail.
Authorities say the investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with additional information on the case is asked to call the GBI Thomasville Office at 229-225-4090 or the Cairo Police Department.
