UPDATE: Suspect in Cairo murder investigation arrested in Tallahassee

Tallahassee, FL. (WCTV) -- The suspect in a Cairo murder investigation has been arrested in Tallahassee.

Nicholas Lequinte Perry was arrested Friday afternoon around 6:45 pm while walking in the area of White Drive.

The GBI Thomasville Field Office and Cairo Police have been searching for Perry for a Cairo Murder that took place last Saturday.

GBI Agents contacted the Tallahassee Office of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement requesting assistance when they learned Perry may be in the Tallahassee area.

Tallahassee Police and the Leon County Sheriff's Office joined the GBI and FDLE in the search for Perry today.

Perry was taken into custody by Florida Officials. He will eventually be returned to Georgia to face the charges for which he is accused.

Cairo, GA. (WCTV) -- A suspect has been identified in the death of 25-year-old Elijah Denzel Smith.

Authorities are searching for 21-year-old Nicholas Lequinte Perry.

Perry is currently being sought on the outstanding warrants for the murder of Smith and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is encouraged to call Grady County 911, Cairo PD or the GBI.

Cairo, GA. -- The victim in the investigation of a body found in Cairo has been identified as 25-year-old Elijah Denzel Smith.

An autopsy is set to be performed in Macon on Monday by the GBI Crime Lab as the case remains active by investigators.

Cairo, GA. -- Authorities have launched an investigation in Cairo after a body was found.

The investigation is currently being headed up by the Cairo Police Department and Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

No further details have been released.
