VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- A man is in custody in Lowndes County, facing several charges after a shooting at a wedding.
It happened Saturday night outside the Rainwater Conference Center on Valdosta's west side.
KeShawn Whipple, 19 from Fitzgerald, Georgia, is now facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault.
Police said a fist fight broke out inside the wedding, then moved outside. That's when police said DeRodney Traylor was shot in the chest.
Police said the incident is still under investigation, but believe the fight did pertain to wedding. No one else is believed to be involved in the altercation.
"In cases of this nature it usually involved people either dealing with very intense emotion, they get very angry, things happen very quickly. The vast majority of these crimes, people don't really think through, they just react," said Lieutenant Adam Bembry with the Valdosta Police Department.
Traylor was taken to South Georgia Medical Center. Authorities said he is still there in stable condition.
