TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says a black bear has been removed from a Tallahassee neighborhood.
According to FWC, a black bear was first spotted on Lovelace Drive near Pensacola Street, about a half mile west of Doak Campbell Stadium.
Biologists and local law enforcement responded to the scene and were able to tranquilize the bear.
Wildlife officials estimate that the bear weighed about 250 pounds.
The FWC says the bear was successfully relocated to the Apalachicola National Forest.
The FWC warns residents to give bears space and not approach them. Black bears are not typically aggressive but will defend themselves if they're approached or cornered.
