Body found by roadside, shot multiple times in Macon

MACON, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities in Macon are investigating after a passing motorist spotted a body at the bottom of a roadside embankment.

The Telegraph of Macon reports the body of a dead woman was found at about 1 p.m. Sunday along Riverside Drive.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said the woman had been shot multiple times and did not appear to have been dead long before she was discovered.

Jones said there was no identification on the woman's body, but she had a cellphone that could yield clues to her identity. He said the slain woman appeared to be in her 20s or 30s.
