VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) -- Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the Valdosta Fire Department responded to an apartment fire on West Mary Street.

Arriving fire units rescued four children from the burning building and emergency officials immediately sent them to a nearby hospital. All four children are expected to recover fully.

Fire crews were able to quickly get the fire under control before it caused any serious damage to the nearby buildings. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, but officials believe the blaze started in the kitchen.
