Passenger killed, driver seriously injured in I-10 crash

LIVE OAK, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol says one man is dead and another is seriously injured following a crash on Interstate 10 in Suwannee County on Wednesday.

The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. near mile marker 284 in Live Oak.

Trooper say two people in a Suzuki sedan were traveling westbound on I-10 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off of the roadway and struck a tree.

A medical helicopter responded to the scene to airlift the victims.

The passenger in the vehicle, David Plaisance, 63, of Deltona, died from his injuries.

The driver, Kevin Potter, 29, also of Deltona, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation and troopers say charges are pending.

LIVE OAK, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a crash with injuries and a roadblock on I-10 westbound east of mile marker 283 in Live Oak. The crash has left all westbound lanes blocked.

As of 6:50 p.m., all westbound lanes remain blocked.

There has been no word on how many people or cars are involved or what the extent of any injuries are.

A helicopter has come to the scene to transport at least one victim.
