WAKULLA COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol says a driver was killed after crashing into a tree that had fallen across Wakulla Springs Road.
The accident happened around 5:53 a.m. Wednesday.
According to FHP, a driver in a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling north on Wakulla Springs Road just north of Emily Lane when they collided with a large tree that had fallen across both lanes.
Troopers say the collision caused the vehicle to travel off of the roadway, where it collided with a second fallen tree on the side of the road. The vehicle overturned onto its left side and the roof of the vehicle struck a third, standing tree.
The driver, 60-year-old Dennis Murphy, of Crawfordville, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Troopers say Murphy was the only occupant in the vehicle and was wearing his seatbelt.
