TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Tallahassee business community is celebrating a "state of the art" laboratory. Danfoss officially opened the new building on Tuesday, at Innovation Park.
The application development center is a place for collaboration, research, and innovation. Staff with Danfoss hope the new center will lead to the next generation of energy efficient and environmentally-friendly equipment.
The goal is to bring solutions to energy consumption for air conditioning systems. The new labs at the center are able to simulate different weather atmospheres to help test products. Testing what it’s like in extreme cold, like Minnesota, or heat and humidity in Florida.
The staff said it was a no brainer to expand in the Capital city.
,"Why are we in Tallahassee? Because also the collaboration we have been developing with Florida State University, with the Mag Lab. And it's creating a lot of innovation streamline for new products,” Ricardo Chneider, with Danfoss.
Danfoss is no newcomer to the area. The company opened up its manufacturing facility in Tallahassee about a decade ago. Mayor Andrew Gillum providing the company with a key to the city.
Danfoss has several other centers like this worldwide: China, Denmark, and India.
