Dog killed during northwest Tallahassee burglary

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A dog was killed during a burglary at a northwest Tallahassee home last week.
According to the Leon County Sheriff's Office, a home in the 5500 block of Mossy Top Way in Lakewood Village was burglarized between 6:30 a.m. and 5:55 p.m. last Wednesday.
When the resident got home, he noticed that there were several things out of place.
He then found that his 7-year-old dog, named Bentley, had been killed in the hallway. Investigators say Bentley was struck in the face and killed by the suspects.
John Cunningham lives just across the street from where it happened. He had this to say about the gruesome break-in. "Anybody that comes in the house, and actually kill your dog like that, and the dog was a harmless dog to me; it probably wouldn't have mattered if they had went in the house and there had been a person there they probably would have done the same thing who knows, sounds like its a dangerous bunch."
Several firearms were taken in the burglary, LCSO says.
The Sheriff's Office is seeking help from residents who may have witnessed anything and asks anyone with any information to contact them at (850) 606-3400 or CrimeStoppers at (850) 574-TIPS.
