SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – A man is facing criminal charges after he crashed into multiple utility poles, causing the wires to fall onto another driver's vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on 216th Street near the intersection of 57th Road in Suwannee County.
The crash report states that 27-year-old John Biansco was traveling east on 216th Street when he suddenly swerved to the left and struck a utility pole. FHP says Biansco continued traveling east, striking three more utility poles before coming to a stop. He then fled the scene.
Biansco was later apprehended by authorities and charged with leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. He was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
Troopers say as the utility poles broke, the wires fell on a RAM ProMaster that had braked when Biansco's car began to swerve. The driver was not injured.
216th Street will be closed for several hours so crews can repair the utility poles.
