Driver located after fleeing scene of Gadsden County crash

GADSDEN CO., Fla. (WCTV) -- Authorities have located the driver who fled the scene of crash in Gadsden County early Sunday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 30-year-old Edi De Leon Maldonado ran away on foot after his truck collided with several trees.

The accident happened around 1:45 a.m. on State Road 12, just east of Providence Road.

The crash report states that a driver in a Ford F-150 was traveling west on SR 12 when he failed to negotiate a curve to the left and drove onto the north shoulder. Maldonado re-entered the roadway, crossed both lanes of traffic, and drove onto the south shoulder before colliding with several trees.

Troopers found Maldonado around 11:15 a.m. near the scene of the crash. He identified himself as the driver.

Maldonado sustained minor injuries and was treated by Emergency Medical Services.

Charges are pending an investigation.

GADSDEN CO., Fla. (WCTV) -- Authorities are searching for the driver of a 1997 Ford F-150 that was involved in a crash Sunday morning.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, it happened around 1:45 a.m. on State Road 12, east of Providence Road.

Troopers say the driver was traveling west on SR 12 in the westbound lane when they lost control while going around a left curve. The truck traveled onto the shoulder of the road before getting back on the roadway, crossing several lanes before hitting multiple trees.

First responders on the scene were unable to locate the driver.

Florida Highway Patrol is asking anyone with information to dial *FHP (*347).
