TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend is showing off its new facilities.

Administrators and staff held a grand opening on Tuesday morning at the agency's new location on North Monroe street in Tallahassee.

ELC serves 7,000 children in seven counties, and their mission is to make sure families have child care and that every child is ready for school.

"If we don't take advantage of the time we have with young children right now, and if we don't make sure they're ready in every sense of the word, then our community will suffer for that," said Matt Guse with the ELC. "It will suffer because they're more likely to get involved in crime.

"We want them to graduate on time, go to college and to have a living wage," Guse continued.

ELC is also celebrating the month of December as Read a New Book Month.
