TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- FAMU DRS has announced the hiring of Dione Smith as their new boys head basketball coach.

Smith is the first female African-American boys coach in FAMU DRS history.

Smith previously has worked as a PE teacher at the school. She played basketball at the University of South Florida.

The Baby Rattlers' previous head coach, Sean Crowe, was named to the same position at Leon High School earlier this year.
