FAMU dean named chair to 2018 Florida Commission on the Status of Women

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Commission on the Status of Women announced the elections of the officers for 2018.

FAMU's School of Journalism and Graphic Communication Interim Dean Lady Dhyana Ziegler DJC, Ph.D was elected chair.

“I’m pleased and honored to have been selected as chair of this dynamic group of Florida women who care deeply about improving the lives of women and girls. Throughout our 25-year history, the Florida Commission on the Status of Women has been an agent of positive change, bringing the voice, needs and conditions of women to the forefront," said Commissioner Ziegler.

"With the energy and skills of our commissioners, we’ll continue to capitalize on the momentum to advance the opportunities for women and girls in our state,” she continued.

The 2018 officers were installed by Judge Nina Ashenafi Richardson in a special ceremony Tuesday evening at the Historic Capitol in Tallahassee.
