TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- Florida State University’s football team is gearing up for the annual “Lift for Life” fundraiser.

The fundraiser benefits the Uplifting Athletes organization, which helps people with rare diseases by providing patient-focused programs and funds research.

The Fisher Family’s Kid’s 1st Fund is also part of Uplifting Athletes' cause.

FSU offensive linesman Alec Eberle is the head of the FSU chapter of Uplifting Athletes.

He says that helping people with rare diseases hits home for the Florida State family.

"We really wanna make a tradition out of helping, athletes and Lift for Life at Florida State,” said Eberle. “At Florida State, we have such a huge platform. We have a huge fan base, everyone's watching us constantly. So if we can use this, and we can use our platform and our fan base to make this even bigger, I think it can be huge.
I mean, there's no other school like our school."

Lift for Life will be held July 18 at the FSU Football Indoor Practice Facility.
The event is at 5 PM and open to the public.

FSU Football hopes to raise $5000 by the end of Lift for Life. Donations can be made at the event or online.
