TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Some Florida State University staff hit the pavement, walking for a local cause.
About a dozen people participated in the second annual FSU United for Vets Walk. Walkers pitched in a $5 to $10 donation.
Student veterans greeted walkers before the participants walked a loop from Integration Statue to the FSU College of Medicine.
Cathy Jones works at the FSU Office of Financial Aid. She and her co-workers decided to walk for veterans.
"Our office is very cohesive in supporting the United Way,” said Jones. “This is just another opportunity for us to show the veterans involved in the FSU community how much we appreciate everything they've done for us."
More than 90 staff members donated to the fundraiser, raising a total of $500. Money from the walk will benefit the United Way. Florida State requested that the money go toward programs that serve local veterans.
