TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Florida State University says a record number of applications has been received for the 2019 summer and fall semesters.
The university received more than 57,000 first-year applications for admission before the first round of decisions were released on January 31. That marks an 11.9 percent increase over last year’s record number of total applications.
“We were humbled by the large number of applications we received from interested students this year,” said Hege Ferguson, director of admissions. “More importantly, the talent, depth and diversity of this applicant pool was incredible, which again made the selection process very challenging.”
According to FSU, the middle 50 percent of accepted students for the fall semester had a grade point average of 4.1-4.5, with a 1270-1390 total SAT score and 28-32 ACT composite score.
The deadline to apply for admission this year is February 7. The final round of decisions will be released on March 28.
FSU expects to enroll about 6,200 freshman in the 2023 class. Accepted students have until May 1 to confirm whether they will enroll.
