TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- A line of students gathered on Landis Green at Florida State University for a picture with a puppy. But, the photo-op was for more than just social media.

It’s part of Delta Nu Zeta's Puppies and Pumpkins fundraiser. For a couple of dollars, students were able to take a picture with a lab mix named Buttercup. The puppy is up for adoption.

Money raised by the sorority will go toward the Companion Animal Rescue Endeavor of Tallahassee (CARE). The group cares for sick and injured homeless animals.

Grace Montgomery is the philanthropy chair of Delta Nu Zeta at Florida State University.

“We all love animals and we think that providing companion animals for other people is a good way for them to get emotional support,” said Montgomery. “Animals are a great way for people to find comfort in their everyday lives.”

Delta Nu Zeta will continue to host the Puppies and Pumpkins fundraiser on Tuesday, October 31. They will be accepting donations and offering photos with adoptable puppies from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
