Driver in fatal single-car Monticello crashed identified by Troopers

MONTICELLO, Fla. (WCTV) -- On Tuesday, the Florida Highway Patrol identified the driver who was killed in a single-car crash on Friday after crashing into a parked semi truck.

FHP says 40-year-old Donald Mallison of Ogden, Utah, died as a result of the crash. Officials say Mallison was not wearing a seat belt.

MONTICELLO, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol has released new information regarding a fatal crash that occurred on U.S. Highway 19 and Sammons Road in Jefferson County on Friday.

FHP says around 5:30 a.m., a 2013 Audi Q7 was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 19 in the outside lane before running off the roadway to the right.

Troopers say after running off the roadway, the vehicle went airborne and collided with a parked tractor on the east shoulder of the roadway.

Authorities say after the initial impact, the car collided with a building and a standing tree on the east shoulder of the roadway, rotated counter-clockwise and landed facing southwesterly.

FHP says the driver, a 40-year-old man who has not been identified by name, was killed as a result of his injuries.

MONTICELLO, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting a deadly crash on U.S. 19 North between Monticello and the Georgia and Florida border.

According to FHP's website, the crash happened around 7 a.m. at Sammons Rd and U.S. 19.

As of the latest update, the Northbound outside lane is blocked. Motorists are asked to use caution in the area and to find an alternate route if possible.
