Fatal crash under investigation in Lowndes County

LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) – The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Lowndes County.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday on the Oak Street Extension at the intersection of Lake Laurie Drive.

Troopers say the collision involved an Acura that was traveling northbound on Lake Laurie Drive and a Honda Accord that was traveling westbound on Oak Street Extension.

Troopers have confirmed that the crash was fatal but officials have not yet released the victim's identity.

Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene. Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.

GSP says toxicology results are pending to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved.
