LAMONT, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fiery semi-truck crash in Jefferson County on Wednesday night.
FHP reports that the crash happened around 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of US-27 and S. Salt Road in Lamont.
FHP, Jefferson County Fire Rescue, the Lloyd Volunteer Fire Department and the Wacissa Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
According to the crash report, the semi-truck was traveling northbound on US Hwy 19 when the driver reportedly blacked out. The truck traveled northwest across the curb and sidewalk and crashed into a metal sign for CR-257. The truck then collided with a cement retaining wall at 10059 S. Salt Road (CR-257), continued across the intersection and crashed into a stop sign. The truck continued over the stop sign and collided with several trees. The tractor and trailer separated before coming to a final rest and catching fire.
The semi-truck driver, 26-year-old Jaboris Treston, of Alabama, escaped with minor injuries. He was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
