Firetruck collides with minivan carrying children on I-75

HAMILTON COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- A firetruck driver has been cited for careless driving after a crash on Tuesday night in Hamilton County, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 75 north near mile marker 470.

The crash report states that a firetruck from the Jennings Fire Department was traveling north on I-75 in the left lane with its emergency lights activated. Troopers say the rear lights on the firetruck were inoperable.

A minivan carrying two adults and four young children was traveling north behind the firetruck.

Troopers say the firetruck driver crossed into the middle lane and made a wide left turn to use the emergency U-turn lane, causing the front of the minivan to collide with the left side of the firetruck.

The crash report states that all parties were wearing seat belts or child restraints and no injuries were reported.

The driver of the firetruck was given a citation for careless driving.
