TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) -- The Florida State women's soccer team has garnered a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and will open their postseason against Loyola-Chicago.
The date and time of the match has not been announced.
The Seminoles captured their sixth ACC championship this past weekend when they defeated North Carolina, 3-2, capturing their fifth title in the last six seasons.
FSU posted a 15-4-2 record this regular season and an 8-2-2 mark in ACC play.
The Seminoles did not allow a goal throughout the first month of the season (five matches) and allowed no more than two goals at any time during the season, including in their conference title match against the Tar Heels.
Loyola-Chicago turned in an 11-6-1 record this year and defeated Drake for the Missouri Valley Conference title. The Ramblers played on ACC team, Notre Dame, and fell 2-1.
The winner between the Seminoles and Ramblers will face the winner between South Florida and Albany.
West Virginia, Radford, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Penn State, Bowling Green, UNC Greensboro, South Carolina, Southern Cal, Long Beach State, LSU and Boston University all share a bracket with the Noles.
FSU blanked Ole Miss (5-0) and Arizona (2-0) before falling to eventual champions Stanford, 1-0, last year in the third round. This year marks the 19th straight season FSU will play in the NCAA tournament.
