TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) --- Florida law prohibits felons from casting a ballot. Now, there's a new push to change that. Advocates are submitting petitions hoping to restore voting rights for millions.

Nearly 3,000 pages are now in the hands of the Leon County Supervisor of Elections. Each has a signature which could restore a felon's right to cast a vote.

Right now, two million felons in Florida can't vote.

The Florida Rights Restoration Coalition spent the past year gathering signatures from registered voters in Leon, Gadsden and Jefferson counties.

Right now, felons must wait 5 years to apply to the Clemency Board to restore rights like voting and running for office.

But these pages could ultimately change that.
