Man charged with murder in death of Berrien County woman

BERRIEN COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) -- A man who was arrested following the shooting death of a woman in Berrien County has now been formally charged with her murder.

Roger Lee Tabor, Jr., 30, is accused of shooting and killing Patricia Michelle Deboyd, 26.

The shooting happened Wednesday afternoon at a home at 1340 Highway 158 in Alapaha.

The Berrien County Sheriff's Office says Tabor is charged with malice murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, aggravated assault (3 counts), aggravated assault involving a family violence act (2 counts), cruelty to children in the first degree, and cruelty to children in the third degree (2 counts).

Authorities have not released additional details about what led up to the shooting.

BERRIEN COUNTY, Ga. (WCTV) -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has identified the victim of a deadly shooting in Berrien County.

Officials say it all started around 3:11 p.m. Wednesday, when the Berrien County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a gunshot victim at 1340 Hwy 158 in Alapaha.

At the scene, deputies found 26-year-old Patricia Michelle Deboyd dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Officers also encountered 30-year-old Roger Lee Tabor Jr. near the home. Tabor was arrested and taken to the Berrien County Jail.

Deboyd's body is being taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
