GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) -- A man wanted out of Gadsden County has been arrested on sex trafficking charges.

Kevin Wyatt, 49, is accused of prostitution a young girl in exchange for drugs for 13 years.

Authorities say someone tipped them off that Wyatt was in Franklin County. He was arrested there Sunday. Deputies say he was hiding on a houseboat off East River.

"I don't want nobody to get hurt. But, when you do the wrong thing, it's right for you to be punished for it," said John Kelly, a Gadsden County resident.

The Gadsden County Sheriff's Office says the prostitution started when the girl was about three years old.

Investigators say Wyatt made her do sexual acts with men in exchange for drugs, money, or other favors. The arrest report says Wyatt even traded fighting chickens in exchange for sexual favors from the girl.

The report said if the girl refused to perform sexual acts or allow men to touch her, Wyatt would slap her and hit her in the back of her head.

It also said the victim said at some point she would just do it because she was tired of fighting.

SGT Angie Hightower with the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office said, "She has endured quite a bit through this entire ordeal. Her trying to go to school and act normal, just going through some emotional roller coasters."

SGT Hightower says the girl came forward in early 2015 when she was 15 years old. Authorities began investigating.

A woman was arrested and charged in connection to the case. WCTV has chosen not to name the woman in an effort to protect the girl's identity.

Detectives say the girl is doing much better. She's 17 years old now.

They say she's staying with a family members where she finally feels safe.
